Alumna Named one of Linn County’s ‘Women of the Year’

Sashi Solomon (MSN ’12) will be receiving the Linn County Woman of the Year Award on August 26


{Corridor Business Journal} – Diane Ramsey and Sashi Solomon will be honored for their efforts to achieve equality for area women and girls in Cedar Rapids and Linn County at the Women's Equality Day Celebration on August 26 at Kirkwood Training & Outreach Services Center (3375 Armar Dr., Marion).

Solomon has spent her career in the promotion of women's health. A nurse practitioner, she currently works at St. Luke's Midlife Care for Women. She has also served as a volunteer at local nonprofits, including the Community Health Free Clinic and the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coalition.

Ramsey is the executive director of IWLC, a comprehensive statewide, nonprofit resource for all activities, events, opportunities and organizations devoted to promoting women's leadership. She is engaged in the Women's Leadership Project, a collaborative effort of women's leadership organizations throughout Iowa. She has served on several local nonprofit boards of directors, including Four Oaks and Waypoint.

A reception with hors d'oeuvres will begin at 6:15 p.m. followed by the program at 7 p.m. Tickets for event are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Tickets for students and seniors are $6. Advance tickets may be purchased at Piersall Law Firm, 3716 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids.
