The 10th Biennial Conference of the Association for Common European Nursing Diagnoses, Interventions and Outcomes, eHealth and Nursing Knowledge for Patient Care, was held April 16-18, 2015 in Bern Switzerland. Bern is the capital of Switzerland and is included as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The conference was hosted at the InselSpital Hospital, one of five university hospitals in Switzerland.
More than 200 people from 26 countries attended this conference focused on the use standardized terminologies in electronic health records. The three keynotes were Professor Elske Ammenwerth from Austria, eHealth, its adaption, and changing roles: Can we predict the future; Professor Gail Keenan from the United States, Implementing standardized languages into EHRs; and Professor Walter Sermeus from Belgium, the role and impact of nurses in healthcare: Linking RN4CAST to eHealth.
Elizabeth Swanson gave a presentation on using an aging model to suggest outcomes, interventions and diagnoses. Sue Moorhead presented on the validation of linkages using clinical data from specialties. Howard Butcher presented on the NIC intervention Journaling and another presentation on the NANDA-I diagnosis Disturbed Energy Field. Cheryl Wagner presented on how to submit a new or revised intervention and a second presentation focused on clinical reasoning.
The poster, Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC): Evaluation of the acute and chronic pain on patients on palliative care, authored by Amalia de Fatima Lucena and Bruna Schroeder Mello from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil was selected as best poster of the conference.
A gala dinner was held on April 18 to celebrate the 20th year since ACENDIO was founded. The dinner was held at Schwellenmätteli in Bern. The Schwellenmätteli is a spacious outdoor area with several restaurants by the river.
