DMACC and University Of Iowa Announce New 3+1 Nursing Partnership

University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) President Rob Denson will announce a new and first-of-its-kind nursing agreement between DMACC and a public research university. The partnership will allow more nursing students to pursue and complete their four-year degree.

Iowa President Harreld and DMACC President Rob Denson will sign a new articulation agreement and then discuss its impact on the two institutions, their students and the state of Iowa.

Due to nursing retirements and aging baby boomers, there continues to be a great demand for nursing graduates in Iowa. In fact, 21 percent of the nursing workforce is eligible to retire right now. One of Iowa’s largest providers of health services, UnityPoint Health System, anticipates hiring 500 – 700 nurses per year.
