Smith’s Article on her Gerontological Research Wins Writing Award
Marianne Smith, PhD, RN, associate professor at UI’s College of Nursing, recently learned that she has been selected to receive the 16th Edna Stilwell Writing Award.
Smith won the award for her article “Improving Antipsychotic Agent Use in Nursing Homes: Development of an Algorithm for Treating Problem Behaviors in Dementia,” which was published in May 2013 in the Journal of Gerontological Nursing.
Established in 1998, the award symbolizes of the contributions of Edna M. Stilwell, Ph.D., RN, and editor of the Journal from 1974 to 1997. The purpose of the award is to continue Stilwell’s tradition of mentoring and recognizing authors in the field of gerontological nursing.
The award will be presented to Dr. Smith at the Gerontological Society of America’s annual conference in New Orleans in November.
