Biography

Dr. Ann Marie McCarthy received her BA in Nursing from Simmons College in Boston, MA, and her MSN in Maternal Child Nursing and her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Boston College. Her pediatric clinical experience has been in general pediatrics, community health centers, and pediatric neurology. She received her PhD in Educational Psychology and Pediatric Psychology from the University of Iowa. After completing a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Dr. McCarthy became a licensed psychologist. Her research area of interest is children with chronic health conditions, with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral interventions for pain management in children and children with chronic conditions in the school setting. Dr McCarthy retired from the College of Nursing in June, 2023.
