The University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA) recently announced the 2015 recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA)—the Association’s highest honor. Two graduates from the College of Nursing were among this select few.

Mike Anderson (DNP ’14) was recently appointed by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) as the 2014-2015 Emerging Leader Fellow. The NBCRNA is the certification organization for all Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in the United States.
Graduates from UI’s College of Nursing are thoroughly prepared to meet the demands of their chosen profession. Like so many before them, the careers of two new alumni are off to a strong start—and they have the hardware to prove it!
Wendy Hochreiter (MSN ’10) and Nick Poch (MSN ’09), who both practice at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC), were recently recognized as 2014 DAISY Award winners.
North Iowans complete U of I degrees online

MASON CITY | Some North Iowans are completing degrees from the University of Iowa without leaving home.
In May 2010 a University of Iowa office on the campus of North Iowa Area Community College opened and a partnership coordinator position was established.
Jimmy Reyes (BSN ’04, MSN ’07, and DNP ’10) has been appointed Associate Director of Practice and Education for the Iowa Board of Nursing.
Currently the Head of the Nursing program at Kirkwood Community College, Reyes brings a wealth of education and nursing experience to this position.
He will start this new position on June 1, 2014.
