Internships

BSN students complete a practicum each semester of their nursing coursework, culminating in a senior internship. Clinical coordinators collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to place students at practicum sites—primarily in the Iowa City–Cedar Rapids area—across clinics, hospitals, public health agencies, and senior living facilities.

Each semester, advisors share information with students about the process on seeking out a summer internship at a location that interests them. Students who secure a summer internship will enroll in a no-cost, non-credit internship course, as required by the Iowa Board of Nursing. This course is facilitated by a faculty member in the College of Nursing.
