Mission
The mission of this program is to prepare students who have a degree in a field other than nursing to become practicing nurses.
Program Design
The MSN Entry into Practice program is a 66-semester-hour innovative program located on the Iowa City campus and can be completed in five semesters. The program combines in-depth learning with extensive patient contact. We work in cooperation with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) – one of the largest teaching and research hospitals in the country – to provide excellent clinical experiences throughout your plan of study. In partnership with UIHC, the college operates the state-of-the-art Nursing Clinical Education Center, which features clinical labs where students practice sophisticated and complex nursing care in specialty and clinical situations.

The MSN Entry into Practice program is a second degree that prepares students who do not currently have a nursing degree to enter the health care workforce quickly. Class sizes are small and offer unparalleled educational excellence and clinical practice. Clinical placements and preceptors are secured for students to ensure quality and rigor of hands-on training of patient care, and students will gain experience through simulation and in a wide variety of clinical settings.
