The Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognizes graduates who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and achievement in nursing, related fields, healthcare and or have made significant contributions to their community. The Outstanding Young Alumni award will be given to an individual who has graduated from the University of Iowa College of Nursing with a BSN since 2018. The nomination packet is to include the online nomination form, the nominee’s resume/CV, and the nominator’s statement. The statement should be 1-2 pages in length documenting the criteria of the award category. Permission from the nominee is required for the nomination. 

Honorees are selected from submitted nominations and are reviewed based on the following criteria: 

  • Graduated from the BSN program within the last five years
  • Excelled early in their professional life and shows potential for continued success 
  • Received recognition as an emerging leader through professional and/or community achievements
  • Served as an outstanding young role model for current and future nursing students
  • Demonstrated ideals that exemplify the College of Nursing’s seven pillars of diversity (awareness, integrity, caring, respect, learning, collaboration and cultural humility)
  • Have demonstrated by their actions the importance of their education at the University of Iowa
  • Be available to speak at the BSN commencement on December 21, 2024
