Congratulations to Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, OH, for graduating their third cohort of RN residents. The October 2022 cohort of 15 new graduates completed the year-long program and presented their professional experiences during the graduation ceremony on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Professional Experiences from the October 2022 Cohort include:
Effects of Radio and White Noise Machine to Hospitalized Patients by Jude Dacutanan, Karren Panizales, and Somaira Alojado. Focused on utilizing non-pharmacological interventions to reduce anxiety and insomnia in hospitalized patients on a medical-surgical and oncology/palliative care unit.
Oral Care Documentation for Ventilated and Tracheostomy Patients by Jessica Blaker and Mackenzie Drake. Added oral care interventions to tracheostomy care documentation. Implemented the use of CHG while performing oral care twice daily for patients with tracheostomies on a vent to improve ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) rates.
Hand Hygiene Tracking by Daniel Metz, Tyler Ludolph, and Leslie Stellfox. Improve and more accurately reflect handwashing scores for units using a badge tracking system instead of relying on patient survey results.
Need to Know About Cathflow by Katlyn Griffey. Implemented cathflow policy, order set, and procedure for administration.
Nothing Tubie Afraid Of by Amy Serdy, McKaylyn Bowersock, and Roluvi Lim. Created education and policy on proper insertion and management of NG tube in the observation unit.
Real-Time Documentation and Verification of Accurate Vital Signs by Tyler Ketchem, Grant Kempis, and Mary Zunega. Developed a worklist in the EMR that reminds the nurse to verify the patient's vital signs every four hours and uphold patient safety standards.
