The University of Iowa College of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is one of the top ten in the country, according to the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released today.

This is the fifth year U.S. News & World Report has ranked undergraduate nursing programs, and the fifth year Iowa's BSN program has been in the top ten. The college is ranked number eight this year.

BSN rankings are determined through a U.S. News & World Report assessment survey sent to deans and senior faculty members of more than 600 nursing schools and departments around the country.

“A ranking conducted this way is valuable because it means that our peers view the University of Iowa College of Nursing as one of the best,” says Dean Julie Zerwic.

“We have an incredible network of faculty, students, staff, and alumni to thank for this, because high regard is not built through test scores or number of degrees granted; it is earned. Earned through the dedication and determination of our students, the innovative ideas and leadership of our faculty, and the everyday interactions of our alumni, who consistently demonstrate the integrity, skills, and care that make an Iowa Nurse.”

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked three of the college's graduate programs in the top ten Best Graduate Schools:

#3 Nurse Anesthesia

#4 Pediatric Primary Care Doctor of Nursing Practice

#7 Adult/Gerontology, Acute Care Doctor of Nursing Practice
