Biography

Dr. Ford graduated from the University of Iowa with her BSN in 2017 and her DNP in 2022. She practices as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Dr. Ford joined the nurse anesthesia program faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2023. Dr. Ford teaches graduate-level courses within the nurse anesthesia program and is passionate about integrating innovative educational strategies into her teaching. Her work emphasizes simulation-based mastery learning, crisis resource management, and high-fidelity simulation to enhance clinical competency and patient safety. She has shared her expertise through presentations at local, state, national, and international conferences. An active advocate for the profession, Dr. Ford is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and currently serves as Treasurer for the Iowa Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She has also served on the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) standard setting committee.
