Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes a graduate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and achievement in nursing, related fields, healthcare, and or made significant contributions to the field on a state-wide, national, or global level.
Eligibility: Awarded to an individual who graduated with a degree from the University of Iowa College of Nursing.
Nomination Packet: Must be submitted online and contain the nominee’s resume/CV and a two- to three-page nomination statement addressing all criteria mentioned below. Permission from the nominee is required to submit a nomination. The recipient will provide the alumni address at the spring BSN commencement ceremony.
The nominator must have an established professional relationship with the nominee.
Characteristics of a Successful Nominee
The recipient embodies the following qualities or criteria: ·
- Reflects the mission of the University of Iowa College of Nursing as a leader for the profession and society at the state-wide, national, or global level.
- Demonstrates extraordinary and sustained impact in improving health through research, education, practice, or community service.
- Provides inspiration for current students, faculty, and alumni as an Iowa nurse who has changed lives.
Nominations are due July 1, 2025.
