My research focuses on optimizing care interactions between persons living with dementia and their caregivers, with an emphasis on promoting person-centered care in long-term care communities. I examine how the quality of staff–resident interactions can shape resident behaviors, including their relationship to resistiveness-to-care. My long-term goal is to develop and implement evidence-based person-centered communication strategies to enhance the quality of dementia care and improve health outcomes.
