Biography

Anna Starcevich is an asst. professor of instruction (instructional) in the College of Nursing at University of Iowa, where she has been teaching since 2021. She has been working in health care since 2001. She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice, FNP from the University of Iowa. Starcevich, specializes in emergency and occupational health medicine, which allows her to care for a diverse population of people. Her work emphasizes rapid clinical decision-making, patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and workplace injury assessment and management. 

As an educator, Starcevich teaches Pathology and Graduate Physiology Advanced Practice and is known for innovative teaching strategies, mentorship, and emphasis on student-centered approach to teaching. She is deeply committed to student success and well-being; creating a welcoming environment where students feel supported and valued. She maintains an open-door policy and is readily available to students outside of scheduled class time and normal working hours. Starcevich remains active in clinical practice through her roles as a nurse practitioner and licensed massage therapist. She participates in college admissions and scholarships committees and is a mentor to teaching assistants. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in meeting students at their current state of learning, fostering growth through meaningful challenge, and providing the resources and encouragement needed for continued growth and success.
