Biography

Dr. Thomas is a nursing educator and practicing critical care nurse with a focus on integrating health informatics into nursing education. With a strong foundation in both academic instruction and clinical practice, she has led and contributed to research initiatives that examine the impact of EHR in simulation on nursing students’ confidence in clinical decision-making. Her work explores how exposure to real-world clinical technologies such as barcode scanning and simulated workflows can strengthen students’ informatics skills and clinical reasoning.

Committed to aligning nursing education with the evolving needs of a technology-driven healthcare landscape, Dr. Thomas collaborates with academic and clinical partners to develop evidence-based instructional strategies that prepare future nurses to navigate electronic documentation and patient safety systems. Her scholarly efforts support the national call to enhance nursing informatics competencies, ensuring that graduates are not only clinically proficient but also equipped to safely navigate digital health environments.
