Biography

Sarah McVeigh is an Associate Professor of Instruction at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She has extensive experience in nursing education and leadership, having served as Interim Associate Dean for Undergraduate and RN Programs and is the Director of the MSN Entry into Practice Program. In these roles, she has overseen program development, faculty mentorship, and strategic planning while advancing innovative approaches to nursing education. 

Dr. McVeigh is a board-certified Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist whose clinical expertise spans acute care, medical-surgical nursing, and gerontology. Throughout her career, she has taught across BSN, MSN, and RN-BSN programs, with teaching expertise in medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, geriatrics, and professional role development. Her scholarly contributions include publications and national presentations on sepsis care, simulation, and academic success in nursing education. Actively engaged in professional and community service, Dr. McVeigh has contributed to numerous university and state committees and maintains memberships in the American Nurses Association and Iowa Nursing Association. She is a 2024–2025 ELAN Fellow with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and a recipient of the 2023 Student Mentorship Award. Her work reflects a dedication to advancing nursing education and improving patient outcomes.
