The University of Iowa College of Nursing recently awarded Health Systems DNP Scholarships to Jessica Glaze, MSN, RN-BC, and Emily Murphy, BSN. Both were selected to receive $6,500 for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The UI College of Dentistry has long been considered a leader in geriatric dental care. Since the 1970s, the school has required all students to enroll in an introductory course in the subject, and roughly two-thirds take the geriatric/special needs elective that puts them in Hartshorn’s clinic three days per week for five consecutive weeks.

Many colleges and departments at the University of Iowa are making a concerted effort to improve their work environments based on results from the Working at Iowa survey, a biennial questionnaire to all staff and faculty.
UI College of Nursing DNP graduate Kathleen Fear, CRNA, was recently published in JNP – The Journal for Nurse Practitioners for her project titled “Fluoroscopy Education Requirements Present Practice Barrier: A Collaborative Solution.”
Fears’s project involves developing a method to meet the Iowa Board of Nursing’s educational requirements for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) supervising fluoroscopy.
When the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) holds its 41st Annual Research Conference in Minneapolis in April, the research efforts of several UI College of Nursing faculty will be formally recognized and celebrated among peers.
