Biography

Dan Lose, DNP, RN, CNML, is an accomplished healthcare leader with more than a decade of progressive leadership experience across complex health system environments. His work is grounded in advancing high-quality patient care through strong nursing leadership, operational excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Lose has a demonstrated record of leading high-performing teams, mentoring emerging leaders, and aligning frontline practice with organizational and enterprise priorities to achieve measurable outcomes in quality, safety, and workforce engagement. In his full-time role, Dr. Lose serves as Director of Acute Adult Services at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, where he leads a talented team of nurse leaders across multiple acute care service lines. He provides strategic and operational oversight with a focus on sustainable staffing models, workforce development, and continuous improvement. His leadership approach emphasizes trust-based relationships, accountability, and empowering leaders to drive change at the unit and system levels. 

Dr. Lose has led numerous initiatives focused on quality improvement, workforce innovation, and system-wide process optimization, including strategic program design and cost-effective staffing solutions that support retention and patient outcomes. As a faculty member, he teaches in the DNP and MSN programs, and is passionate about bridging academic preparation with real-world leadership practice to prepare nurses to lead effectively in today’s evolving healthcare environment.
