Tracie C. Harrison, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA
Dr. Tracie Harrison is a Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. Her research interests include the intersection between age related change and functional impairment and how that affects social role performance and subsequent health outcomes. Her policy research interests surround the federal and state laws that affect the long-term health related policies providing benefits and/or services to people aging in long-term care and their respective communities, including worker’s compensation, Medicare, and Medicaid related legislation. Her policy work on self-directed care with team members, created questions on how the disability movement influences current policy related decisions.
Dr. Tracie Harrison has been honored by the Southern Nursing Research Society/John A Hartford Foundation Geriatric Research Award and is a fellow in both The American Academy of Nursing and the Gerontological Society of America. She was invited to serve on a panel for the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering & Medicine on disability for the Social Security Administration, and she was a Health & Aging Policy/APSA Congressional Policy Fellow working with the Administration on Aging/Office on Disability at the US HHSC, 2011-12.
