Welcome to the University of Iowa Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) program. My name is Dr. Jodi Bloxham and I am proud to be the PNP-AC Program Director. The PNP-AC program is new to the University of Iowa and is the only program of its kind in Iowa. We blend quality academics with exceptional clinical experiences that are carefully selected and individualized for the best student learning outcomes.

Each year we accept 10 BSN prepared nurses into our PNP-AC DNP program. The initial years of the DNP program consist of online courses with exposure to all nurse practitioner (NP) students. During subsequent years, students work toward gaining competence in managing complex acutely, critically and chronically ill pediatric patients. Throughout the program, students work closely with a faculty advisor to complete a DNP project and continue to refine their clinical skills.

The University of Iowa College of Nursing also has a robust 1-year PNP-AC Post Graduate Certificate program that results in Board eligibility for the PNP-AC certification exam. This program is specifically designed for NPs already in practice that wish to add knowledge in caring for complex acutely, critically and chronically ill children and expand their scope of practice.

In addition, college offers an MSN to DNP program that enrolls MSN graduates interested in completing their DNP while learning the competencies inherent in caring for children with complex acute, critical and chronic disease.

Graduates of the UI College of Nursing PNP-AC program are well prepared to for the challenges of caring for complex acutely, critically and chronically ill children and their families. We look forward to welcoming you as our colleagues!

Please feel free to contact me with questions, and I look forward to reviewing your application.
