Nurse Anesthesia - Selection Process
During the 2nd week of June, the anesthesia nursing program (ANP) admission’s subcommittee anonymously screen all completed applications. Overall academic achievement, performance in science courses, ICU experience, personal statements, and references will be considered when deciding which applicants will be invited for personal interviews.
Selected applicants will be notified of their candidacy for admission by mid-June. Selected applicants will be required to come to Iowa City for an interview at the candidate’s expense. Interviews will be conducted at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in late July-early August. Candidates will interview with members of the admissions subcommittee, meet with current students, and have the opportunity to interact with faculty members and staff CRNAs.
The admissions subcommittee will meet within a week of final interviews and determine applicants to which they would like to offer admission in the next cohort of IOWA DNP-CRNA students. Following the ANP subcommittee recommendations, applicant files will be forwarded to the Graduate College Office of Admissions for final review. Official admission will come from the University of Iowa Graduate College.
Applicants offered admission must return the Intent to Enroll Form for the DNP degree with a specialization in anesthesia nursing to the University of Iowa Graduate College by a specified date.
