Biography

Katie Hepfer joined the College of Nursing faculty in 2023 as an Associate Professor of Instruction and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Prior to this role, she served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M School of Nursing from 2017 to 2023. Her extensive clinical experience encompasses pediatric primary care and newborn nursery care, gained in College Station, Texas. Her dedication to underserved populations is evident through her experience at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and her involvement in international health initiatives in Guatemala. Before earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Iowa in 2016, she contributed to the field by working in pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant at what is now University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Dr. Hepfer's academic journey includes her undergraduate education at the University of Iowa, where she achieved a BSN and a BA in Spanish in 2009. Enthusiastically, Dr. Hepfer is returning to the University of Iowa, excited to further contribute to its academic community.
